Just love that last 'behind the scenes' image.

  1. Man, I do love that spacecraft! I've always wondered how the frak did those damn stinking apes piece together an interstellar craft and travel backwards through time?

  2. I figured you'd get around to posting more of this at some point. I do dig that spacecraft--especially the interior. It looks very functional and--dare I say--even realistic in a way. Good, functional-looking suits as well. I used to love these movies as a kid (and the TV stuff as well). I remember having a Planet of the Apes Colorform set! For people of a certain age (at least here in the US) colorforms were a magical part of childhood--basically they were little plastic pictures that would stick to a printed background due to static electricity. They were like interactive paintings based on your favorite movies and TV shows.

  3. This one of the best fan-sites on the web about the ANSA Icarus spacecraft

  5. Did you guys have Colorforms in the UK (I suppose they'd be Colourforms there)? Just curious. :) By the way I went back and looked through your previous entries recently--all the way back to the beginning of the blog. Brilliant stuff all around!

  7. Thank you very much, when I get some time I'll go back and enlarge some of the images in the earlier posts.

On the subject of Colo(u)rform I'm going to have to say no. Or if we did then it passed me by. I had lots of Letraset rub down action scenes of various movie and comic characters. Never had a planet of the apes one which is a shame. I think that sounds as near as we might have got. I'm going to go search the internet to see what we missed out on

  8. The company that made Colorforms made a rubdown transfer product as well, although I don't remember having any of those. In my nostalgia-fueled wanderings online I found this video featuring the very POTA Colorforms set I had as a kid! It even shows how you could mix and match your sets to have characters from different shows/movies duke it out--at least in your imagination...
