Astronaut: The Last Push (2013) - Promotion

A very nice promotional image for what appears to be a very good movie by all account.  Writer and Director; Eric Hayden as been over to this blog to thank us for talking about his movie.  It's not a problem and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the movie myself.  For everything you might want to know about the film, including how to see it, I suggest the following destination.

Always happy to do my bit to help promote the work of those that dare to dream and then turn their dreams into reality.  Good luck with it all, Eric.  And once again, thanks to Brad for pointing me in the right direction.

The Innes Book of Records (1979)

From the opening credits of the first series of The Innes book of Records.  Neil Innes deserves to be looked up, as does his music and the various TV shows he was involved with.  For those of us that watched this particular show back in the day it was something of a secret treat even then.  Cult the moment it aired and little better known all these years later.  A very original talent the likes of which we seem not to get anymore.  Anyway, back to the spacesuits.

This is the same helmet as used in the 1977 Dr Who story; The Invisible Enemy.  It is most probably also the same helmet worn by the dead pilot in 1983 story; Terminus

The Outer Limits - Specimen Unknown (1965)

Another episode from the first series of The Outer LimitsSpecimen Unknown most definitely features those Men into Space helmets.

The Outer Limits - The Premonition (1965)

The Premonition is the penultimate episode from the second series of The Outer Limits and features a helmet that seems close to one of those Men into Space helmets but I'm not quite sure

Invasion of the Astro-Monster (1965)

Invasion of Astro-Monster or Monster Zero or The Great Monster War, as it is known in Japan was a co-production between the Japanese company Toho and the American company UPA.

It was the 6th film in the Godzilla series and the first to feature alien invaders, combining the series with outer space themes, such as civilizations on other planets and interplanetary space travel.
This was once the stuff of youth and Saturday morning TV.  It's been an absolute age since I've seen this or any of the other Godzilla film and I would love to show you some goofy stills from it but in the interest of blog purity, I'm going to stick to the spacesuits.
Oh go on then just this one....
or two
or three

Astronaut: The Last Push (2013)

It's going to turn into quite a year for films if you like this kind of stuff.  And I do.  This one is called: Astronaut: the Last Push.  The trailers are on line and the reviews seem positive.

This trend in space exploration films makes me kind of happy to think that we might start thinking slightly further than the next new smart phone.  I think we're all ready to revisit some of the bigger dreams of the past and try and get off this planet.

Cheers Brad for the point towards this film.

Solaris (1968)

Before the two movie versions of Stanislaw Lem's 1961 novel; Solaris, there was a two-part adaption made for Russian TV back in 1968.  It's available online in some of the obvious places and from what I've seen so far - the first half an hour or so - its very good.

Cheers for the point to this DeadSpiderEye, much appreciated.
