Texas Triumphant (1987) Barclay Shaw

A strangely likable bit of artwork by Barclay Shaw for Texas Triumphant, a novel by Daniel Da Cruz.  I would like to tell you the colours are out on the scan and that the Russian spacesuit is actually a nice deep communist red but I had a copy of this book in my hands about an hour ago and that was girly pink too.  Very; Despicable Me.

Lets have a game of spot the pink spacesuit, anyone?

Starcom - The Toyline (1987)

I was too old to have been into these when they came out and I don't remember ever being aware that there was a TV series. My younger brother had a couple of the figures and a small vehicle, I think. From what I can gather Starcom never really set the world on fire but I quite like the box art though.

American TV pilot.  Sounds dreadful.  doesn't look much better either.  If anyone has seen this and wants to correct me by telling me it's a work of genius then feel free.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981)

This is from the opening sequence of the BBC TV version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I just watched this again very recently.  Absolutely brilliant opening episode and then just sort of drifts away into a series of over egged set pieces.  It's time to remake this, I think.

Space Race (2005)

This is Yuri Gagarin as portrayed in the BBC Docudrama Space Race.  This was a co production between British, German, American and Russian production teams which is interesting because me and blog watcher; DeadSpiderEye are not at all convince by the helmets.  He has suggested that this is in fact a redressed helmet from the BBC's Star Cops (1987) and it might just be.

And this is the Alan Shepard look-a-likey in his not especially look-a-likey helmet and suit.  I don't know from where it came but you some how expect better of the BBC
