Merry Mars by Chris Trevas (2005)

A finer piece of Santa/spaceman art you will be hard pushed to find.  Fantastic work, by Chris Trevas.  And a great big happy Christmas for those that care, otherwise just enjoy the holiday

  1. A merry christmas to you.
I was just enjoying a moment of pure nostalgia on youtube watching the intro to an old show that I watched way back in 77,when low and behold I saw one of the lost in space helmets make a brief appearance, its actually quite fitting as the show in question is sid and marty krofts The far out space nuts which had a lost in space type premise to it and also starred bob denver who was gilligan of gilligans island fame.It just shows up briefly in a sequence that lasts literally a few seconds involving a zero gee pie in the face, but it does make me wonder if the suits/helmets showed up in any of the actual episodes, time to do some research, anyway heres the clip in question.

    Update:
I`ve just found a pic from the show of bob wearing the way,way out/planet of the apes suit, was this actually used in the show or is it just a pro-mo?

    1. UPDATE#2:
I do actually now remember there being suits in the show, the helmets were the lost in space ones with a new silver suit plus backpack, you can see these in ep11[best backpack/suit pics] and ep12 [best helmet pics] and in ep15 theres yet another suit/helmet combo which I dont recognize and sadly no good closeups of the helmet.

Theres also another oldy featuring just a helmet this time, its from the 1980 the martian chronicles 3pt miniseries.I actually remember reading about this back in the day in starlog magazine but didnt actually get to see it in my neck of the woods until 1991.The helmets [looking a bit like bike helmets, which is a bit odd as the series isnt low budget] show up only at the beginning as the astronauts head out to board their craft, they do put them on for lift off but strangely dont seem to wear them for the actual mars landing. The sequences with the martians are quite strange and have almost a mid 1980s dr who vibe about them both in sets, costumes, props oh and the fact that they are played by english actors as well, altho there is one bit in the sequence [25:19] that had me scratching my head, evidently the martian hand weapon uses killer bees[!],of course it might have been a slightly wonky pronunciation like a certain scene in 12 monkeys and he was actually meaning killer "beams"? or maybe killer "beans"?,I really dont know.
