A Cultural History
That helmet has the look of something authentic, I don't think it can just be a prop.
It looks more like a prop to me, than a real pressuresuit helmet. The mask and hose flanged onto the bubble looks very much like this 1940's fighter pilot oxygen mask.(on the left) http://www.militariarg.com/uploads/4/2/2/1/4221080/2382370.jpg?696It even has the same "knobs" on the front.I think some-ones pet fishies lost their home for the bubble...
Righty oh, it's a goldfish bowl then? at least the masks real.
Well the Radio Times used what looks like the same suits the same year for publicity pictures for Journey into Space (there are images if you look the show up in the labels index) though I've yet to find anything before 53 There's something realistic about the suit, though. Maybe its because its a fiction built on factual like a Star Wars gun ? Time will tell
...oh and cheers for the input dj NME. We'll get to the truth between us, eventually I'm sure
It's the way the mask mates to the glass that looks impressive to me. there's a bit artfulness to it that is beyond the normal standard that you get with most props. It's a nice clear snap too.
All very true. I'm somewhat taken with the door behind him as well. It also reminds me of Doctor Who corridors from 78'ish
