The Premonition is the penultimate episode from the second series of The Outer Limits and features a helmet that seems close to one of those Men into Space helmets but I'm not quite sure
Looks like they just added the black bar from hinge to hinge for a bit of added detail. Same overall shape, but as you say you can't quite be sure. We should look for this helmet elsewhere.
I thought it was to begin with but its missing the triangle shape from above the visor and the chin doesn't seem to go in at a sharp enough angle. But you're right if its something other it will have been used elsewhere. Lets start the search
I`ve either just found the identity of the helmet in question or its original inspiration,it appears to be the exact spitting image of the MC-2 full pressure helmet made by the Bill Jack Instrument Company, interestingly the page also features the MA3 helmet and suit which certainly look to be the inspiration for the Men in space helmet and suit http://www.salimbeti.com/aviation/images/helmets/mc2-04.jpg http://www.salimbeti.com/aviation/helmets10.htm http://www.aeronautics.nasa.gov/x_15/photos/images/large/32.jpg

DeleteAfter exhaustive examination...I agree it's definitely not a MIS helmet. So it's a new helmet to look for! It can't have been used just this once.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite episode of The Outer Limits.
ReplyDeletebeen a while since I've seen any. I could stand a repeat of a season or two
