Entity (2014)

I believe this is the original short film that goes on to appear as part of the Galaxy of Horrors anthology.  Either way I like this artwork.

Break Free - Ariana Grande (2014)

Another homage to Barbarella.  This time its Break Free by Ariana Grande.  It's not really my kind of thing but feel free to go look in the usual places if you want to enjoy the tune and watch the full video.

The Cosmonaut (2014)

Written and Directed by Sophie Hayward; The Cosmonaut is set over the course of one night, and follows Masha and Kit (Tegan Crowley and Joshua Hine) as they leave a costume party and decided to spend the evening together wondering the streets of Melbourne. Both feeling lost in their own lives, they take comfort in discovering they're not the only ones struggling to make sense of their worlds.
Written from research, completely ad-libbed and filmed over just a few hours, the 20 minutes long The Cosmonaut is a contemplation of what it's like to be in your late twenties and wondering what you are doing with you life.

Ascension (2014) - mini gallery

No second series.  Not all that surprised really.  Still, I do like the suits and we can now all look forward to them being recycled elsewhere!  I've blogged them being in an episode of Castle already but where will they pop up next?

Doctor Who - Kill the Moon (2014)

We've looked at these before...
But I didn't really find you all a good image of the 3rd helmet from the show..
It's the good old GSh-6A, being all retro and victimy

It's a bit of a classic that's been around for a few years so how could it not turn up on Dr Who somewhere or other.

Something for the Weekend #20 - Rocket Babe - Fallen Angel (2014)

Discovered through Facebook, from the wonders of the internet, I present the front cover of Rocket Babe - Fallen Angel.
Cover art by Mike James

I suggest you follow this link; http://www.vernarockets.com/id43.html  if you are interested in buying the book(s) and finding out everything you need to about the people involved in the publishing. (Well done and thank you)

I think this is the original image with the original model before photo shopping her head and space gun out.  Go find out and report back to me.  Or not.

It remains only for me to add, in my best Leslie Phillips voice; "Ding Dong!"  and "Rather!"

A finer slice of entertaining cinema, you will not find.  Roll on number 2.

O2 Be More Dog - Space Cat (2014)

From the people that brought you Gravity, here are Framestore's space rendering VFX talents displayed for one of the O2 Be More Dog advertising campaigns.

Or.... Look; a cat in a spacesuit.  harh!

Starship Rising (2014)

A starship captain uncovers a government secret that could lead to the galaxy's destruction, and realizes he must rise up and rebel against the invincible planetary federation.
Looks pretty uninspiring stuff so probably best avoided like the plague.

High Moon (2014)

This was originally the pilot episode of a TV show that never made it into full production but was later resurrected as a TV movie

Set in the future where the countries of Earth have established colonies to mine the Moon's resources. When a new life form is discovered, chaos erupts as various factions race to uncover and exploit its powerful secrets.
It's got some fairly harsh reviews however I think I might find the time to give it a watch as it's based on John Christopher’s 1969 young adults novel The Lotus Caves and I'm something of a fan of the author's work.
Anyone out there who has seen this and wishes to stop me wasting my time, speak up now.

However good it may not be, I do like the look of these orange suits and their force field / special effect visors.  As well as a nod towards the 70's, there's something a bit Tintin about them

Cosmonauts: How Russia Won the Space Race (2014)

Just watched this wonderful BBC4 documentary this evening and very highly recommend it to you all.  Not sure if the link will work for all of you outside the UK people or how long it will last but these things tend to lurk around on the internet in some form or other so its worth seeking it out if you can't get to it from the above.

Project Skyborn (2014)

Another entertaining short film from off the interweb.  I found it here:

I kind of love it just for finding an alternative space helmet than the old Russian Gsh-6A.

Atomic Age Pictures - Space Rangers (2014)

Not quite sure if it's a film, is going to be a film or would like to be a film.  Lots of lovely images to view via this link:

What ever it is they are doing over at Atomic Age Pictures I know that we over here at Say; Hello Spaceman, salute them and offer the traditional British greeting of; Ding Dong!
