We've done this film already but I'm having a bit of a Bob Hope thing this evening so lets post a new image for The Road To Hong Kong, in which Bob (and Bing) can be seen wearing a suit that's possibly original to them but which goes on the pop up in the following few years in at least a couple of other films

I don't really need a reason to have another look at these fantastic spacesuits except to say that when you look closely you will notice - as did I once it  had been pointed out to me - that there is a slight variation in suit design.

Look to the chest lamps; see how one is round and to the side where as the other is rectangular and central.  Fabric varies too but don't take my world for it - view the gallery

The Lucy Show was an American sitcom that aired on CBS from 1962–68. It was Lucille Ball's follow-up to I Love Lucy. All you need to know about the plot is in the title.

Life Magazine (1961)

When we looked at The Road to Hong Kong (1962) not too many posts back, blog follower; beamjockey, made comment about the story and images published in the 10th of November 1961 issues of Life magazine.  Being a good sort, he emailed me a scan of the page 46 and here it is including some close ups.  Its a great little story and adds hugely to the original post.  Thanks again, sir.

Road to Hong Kong (1962)

The Road to Hong Kong was made in1962 at Shepperton Studios in England.  It starred Bing Crosby and Bob Hope and features a host of other guest stars, many of whom come across as a little bit fresher and a lot funnier than the series reoccurring comedy duo.  Not surprisingly this was the last of the Road to.. series of movies. 

 

 

And - of no particular interest to anyone one other than me- it appears to be the first appearance of this particular space helmet which turns up the next year in Mouse on the Moon (1963) and then a little later on as part of  the killer robots in The Earth Dies Screaming (1965)

Now that's kind of cool.

Moon Pilot (1962)

Moon Pilot is satirical comedy made in 1962.  It's based on the 1960's novel Starfire by Robert Buckner.

 

Oh look, its one of those Men Into Space helmets which have been recycled all over the place.  Nice.
