There are two other space exploration films showing on the festival circuit and both look quite good. One is called "Europa Report" and the other "Astronaut: The Last Push." The reviews I've read say they're both made to be more realistic about space travel than your usual SF..
I follow a film site called "Hollywood Bitchslap" which covers a lot of the smaller, more genre specific festivals around North America in addition to general release commercial films. They champion film criticism as a craft and relentlessly take to task the mainstream critics who exist mainly to please the studios and provide them with positive quotes for their advertising (a lot of these quotes are pre-written by the studios and these critics--which HB refers to as "quote whores"--simply sign off on which ones they'll have their names attached to...pretty shameful but not surprising, really). Anyway it's a good, informative site where I've discovered quite a few gems I would otherwise have missed. Cheers back atcha! :)
I didn't get round to it at the movies so watched it on DVD well after the fact. I liked it to, It's more a captivating rollercoaster ride than a great movie but it works, even on 2D TV which says something about it.
