We've been here a few times before but not necessarily to inspect the content of the spaceship Nostromo's lockers and cupboards. Ignore the bird in her undies gripping the big chopper and take a look at those emergency spacesuits.
That's the one on the right. Looks familiar doesn't it and on this occasion its actually being a proper spacesuit
Here it is again, variation on a theme.
and here on the left a few times more
Steve
'Ignore the bird in her undies grabbing the big chopper...'!!! Some things you ask are just impossible
ReplyDeleteI was raised on Benny Hill and Carry On films.....I can't help myself
DeleteIt is amazing how many little great bits were hiding in the background of this film.
ReplyDeleteIt keeps on giving. Somebody facebooked me a large post all about the typography in the film....and now I'll share it with you. Its quite a piece of work.

Excellent link Steve,I`ve always wanted a decent look at cobbs iconography for the nostromo and a close up of the destruct console procedure, great stuff.
DeleteYour welcome, I think that might entertain a few of the regulars
DeleteIn case you missed it Polar Lights released a resin model kit of Kane in his space suit 1/9th scale.
ReplyDeleteThat's very nice. And I was unaware of the release so thanks. I've been pondering over the Neca action figures, which also look very good for the size, price and detail. However the little bit of space on the book shelf has a Planet of the Apes Gorilla soldier thing going on at the moment.
DeletePropstore Of London brought the Kane suit to Comic-con one year, I took 69 photos of it. You want?
ReplyDeleteThanks. I would be happy to link to them if you put them up on the net somewhere
DeleteSuit on the right is an Air Ventilated, MK.2c R.A.F. Coverall made by GQ Parachutes Ltd with a Taylor Model D Half Pressure helmet...
ReplyDeletemystery solved in later blog post here: http://sayhellospaceman.blogspot.com/2015/06/raf-air-ventilation-suit-1950s.html
