Sea Hunt - The Aquanettes (1961)

There were 155 episodes of Sea Hunt over four seasons running from 1958 to 1961.  The Aquanettes are from episode 12 of the fourth season.  Now I don't think we ever got this over in the UK or if we did it was way before my time and never got repeated on my local ITV network.

So being ignorant to the show I'll quote IMDB for the episode description  and leave it up to you to nod your head with nostalgia or shrug, depending on which side of the Atlantic you're living.

Mike takes part in a special program known as Operation Astronette. His job is to train three female astronauts in underwater survival skills.

Another Men into Space helmet appearance.  More pretty girls in a space suit. What more do you want.

Last Flight is a very classy short film by Damon Keen about the sole survivor of an ill-fated Mars mission.

I watched it online although I can't remember from where.  It must be out there somewhere so go find it and treat yourself for a few minutes

The King and Queen of America - Eurythmics (1990)

The King and Queen of America is a song by the UK combo Eurythmics.  In the video band members Annie Lennox and David Stewart are seen dressed up in  a variety of costumes and settings that parody American pop culture. And here's just one of them.

Invitation to Hell (1984)

Invitation to Hell is a made for TV horror film from 1984.  I've personally never seen it but believe it to be something of a cult treat.  The charms of such things, I've decided, lay entirely on the age of the viewer at the time of the viewing.  So I'll probably let this one slide by unseen.  That said I have watched just a little bit in order to bring you these images.  Enjoy.

Starflight One (1983)

Starflight: The Plane That Couldn’t Land (re-released on video and given a cinema release in the United Kingdom as Starflight One, also referenced as Airport 85) is a 1983 television movie starring Lee Majors and Hal Linden.

The first hypersonic transport is leaving for its inaugural flight from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia, a two-hour flight through the stratosphere.  What could possibly go wrong?

Stranded (2001)

 

Stranded is a 2001 film about the first manned mission to Mars. It stars Vincent Gallo and Maria de Medeiros, and was directed by Spanish filmmaker and actress María Lidón, with screenplay by Spanish science fiction author Juan Miguel Aguilera. Lidón won the "Grand Prize of European Fantasy Film in Silver", and Gallo and de Medeiros were named best actors at the 2002 Fantafestival in Rome.  Which all sounds rather interesting.  I'd quite like to see this one.
