Moontrap: Target Earth (2017)

A long forgotten ancient spacecraft discovered on Earth. Investigations carried out by Scout transport her to the moon whereupon she meets the impressive machines preserving the wisdom of that long lost civilization

A sequel to the decades old Moontrap, of which I recall almost next to nothing and have little desire to revisit.  Reviews for this are poor.  Has anyone fond memories of the original or even fondness for this revisit? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Saw the original; not one of the better films out there, in my opinion. Honestly, the most interesting thing I can remember about it is that the title was also used in _Men Into Space._

  2. I personally thought the original was a rather enjoyable piece of old rubbish,I mean its got ancient astronauts/spacecraft/moonbases,killer alien robots/cyborgs hanging out on the moon and of course it stars star trek/babylon 5s Walter koenig and Evil Deads Ash Bruce Campbell and it doesnt take itself to seriously, for instance theres a great line from Walter Koenig while hes breaking out the, probably low recoil luna spec submachine guns,he says in obvious disbelief "Christ!...guns on the moon" that always makes me smile

I`ve also just this minute watched Moontrap target earth, its so low budget it makes the original look big budget and its total crap, the only good thing is the suit which I actually like.
I`ve also come across another suit, the helmet is our old friend the gsh6,its starring in a youtube short, its title Sol 87

    1. I think Bruce Campbell was the reason to rent for me back in the day. That used to be enough! I've plenty of old bits of tosh I quite enjoy myself. Its about watching them at the right time of your life, beds them into a special place. Thanks fore sharing. Sorry the sequel is not up to much.

  3. The 1989 original, starring Walter (Chekov) Koenig and Bruce (Ash) Campbell is actually a fun b-movie/direct to video flick.
A number of plot elements were re-used in Apollo 18
You can read the comic adaptation of the original here..(yes, there was a comic based on it...but in black-and-white)
