Cashing in on the space race, these images are from the first of 3 TV commercials for Space Food Sticks, a tasty treat for astronauts and the American public alike.

    A sort-of caramel taste, kind of like an edible brown linocut tile.
    I remember having these as a kid in the 1980's.
    Nestle deleted/stopped making them mid last year (2014)
