Merry Mars by Chris Trevas (2005)

A finer piece of Santa/spaceman art you will be hard pushed to find.  Fantastic work, by Chris Trevas.  And a great big happy Christmas for those that care, otherwise just enjoy the holiday

Great Adventure Stories for Boys Hamlyn story library (1977)

 1977

1980?

Two editions of the same book, both paying homage to a different, previously existing, spacesuit.

The first is clearly: Space: 1999 - Mission of the Darians (1975) with some elements of the  UFO and Moon Zero Two spacesuits

And the second is the classic: Alien (1979) Ripley's Suit

Because I'm reading a lot of old books from the 60's 70's and 80's this year I was quite happy to order myself an copy of the top one for that reason and the rather lovely cover.  I'll update artist info when it arrives, if its documented.

Parker Lewis Can't Lose (1991)

From Parker Lewis Can't Lose series 1 episode 20: Randall Without a Cause... the space helmet from Starflight One.... just sitting there being a prop for reasons never explained.
A wonderfully obscure find by blog-follower SWGhostbuster.
Many thanks

Sam (2016) ...and other animals.

I think this is very cool.

Sam, a 12 meter tall monument of a monkey cosmonaut, by sculptor Denis Prasolov.  It was placed in Kronvald Park, Riga in Latvia.  It pays tribute to all the animals that died in spaceflight survival tests before manned missions were attempted.

There are also some other versions of Sam and other animal cosmonauts in alternative format.

....and others to view here:

Enjoy

"Help" by Svjeeta (2013)

Here's a fantastic spaceman themed illustration called "help" that features an alien helping a wounded astronaut. It was created by Deviant Art user Svjeeta, and is magical.

Missions (2017)

Missions is French Sci-fi show of 10 short episodes which is gaining some very good reviews.  I suspect we'll be back this way again.

Red Dwarf Season 12 (2017)

It wasn't even a month ago that I blogged about what appears to be the reusing of the Doppelganger / UFO helmets in a forthcoming episode of Electric Dreams, as seen in the season trailer.  A helmet that hasn't been seen for decades

And now today I'm pointed toward the new season twelve Red Dwarf trailer because something almost as old and equally interesting has been spotted there within.
Yes; Not one but two Space 1999 helmets!  Where have these been for all these years and how cool is it that they have come out of retirement to continues in their career in genre TV.
Thanks again Mr De Prave, you've a keen eye for a classic

5th Passanger (In progress)

5th Passenger is an independent science fiction film funded through Kickstarter. It's about 5 people in an escape pod after their space ship blows up...but the catch is the pod is only built for 4 people!  It's a life boat in space with a deadly alien twist kind of a thing

The Kickstarter page can be found at www.5thPassenger.com and follow on twitter
@5thPassenger or on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/5thPassenger

Tom Corbett, Space Cadet (1950)

Set during the middle of the 24th Century at the Space Academy for the Solar Guards and aboard the 'Polaris', a Solar Guard training ship, this hugely-popular science-fiction series was one of the very few programs to air on all four of the major American TV networks through the 1950's

Lego - Build the Future advert (2017)

Lego's Build the Future print campaign, as designed by Ogilvy Thailand, is very cool, visually striking and probably inspirational to boot.  As such, I'll show you the two none Spaceman images as well because I'm kind like that.
