The Tripods - Series 2 (1985)

Not such a big fan of this show although I am a massive fan of John Christopher, author of the original books on which the BBC TV series was based.  Good old Aunty Beeb only managed to get two thirds of the way through the trilogy before giving it up as a bad dull thing.  They should probably have another crack at it now that technology is more up to the job but then again if it turned out to be only half as witless as their last attempt at Day of the Triffids, then they perhaps shouldn't bother.

Nude on the Moon (1961)

Nude on the Moon is a degrading and shocking exploitation of the female-form that repeatedly exposes the most obvious of the lady-bumps purely to titillate (tee-hee) and turn a cheap profit....

However that's not going to stop me covering it here.

Never seen it.  Probably never will but according to Wikipedia;

Nude on the Moon is a 1961 sexploitation film co-written and co-directed by Doris Wishman and Raymond Phelan under the shared pseudonyms "O. O. Miller" and "Anthony Brooks". The film was produced in 1960 but was not released theatrically until 1961. Doris Wishman went on to become a significant filmmaker and noteworthy director of sexploitation movies. Wishman is also credited as the film's co-producer.

That's it now, nothing more to see.  Move along.

Conquistador de la luna (1960)

All the way from Mexico, Conquistador de la luna is light hearted flick featuring some impressive effects.... primarily lifted from Destination Moon and Road to the Stars.  And for that reason alone you can see what inspired the suit design.

Star Pilot (1966)

Star Pilot or 2+5: Missione Hydra is an Italian film from 1966.  As to be expected, there are some super stylish outfits and some sexy looking people in the film.....not that these two chaps up front are good examples of either.

Thanks for the image find, Tim.

Journey To The Moon (1959)

Rehla Ilal Kamar or Journey To The Moon as it is better known round our way, is an Egyptian film from 1959.  It's said to be something of a take on Abbot and Costello Go to Mars although it drifts away to slightly darker places towards the end.  Beyond that, you are on your own to go and explore the deeper merits and entertainments offered in such  as this.

But still; spacesuits from Egyptian cinema....who would have thought it!
Thanks for the find, Tim.

Pluto Nash (2002)

The Adventures of Pluto Nash, so they say, is not very good.  Apparently it cost a lot of money and made very little back.  All of this information is very new to me.  I can't remember everything about 2002 but I have no memory of this ever doing the rounds at the cinema, or turning up on video (DVD?) after, or popping up on the telly a little after that.  Once again I throw it open for you, the blogwatchers, to let me know if it sucks as bad as they say or if it's worth a butchers at some point should opportunity arise.

Titan Find (1985)

Titan Find (AKA Creature) is, as far as I can remember, a big old rip-off of Alien.  Klaus Kinski is about the only thing that sticks in my mind from seeing this back in the day but then Klaus is that kind of actor.  On reflection the spacesuits seem rather nice.  They're a little bit 2001 for the most part but there ain't nothing wrong with that.  Here are a lot of pretty pictures.

Sunshine (2007)

Great film.  Ugly spacesuit but then all that glisters is not gold.  To be fair though the design is more about keeping the heat out than looking aesthetic.
