Lost In Space (2019)

Happy Christmas and all that stuff...
I was searching the Netflix for a little late night Christmas day horror and stumbled over Lost in Space Series 2.  Quick change of plan then followed and I've just treated myself to the first two episodes.
I will be back to blog those lovely space suits again but not until I've watched the whole series as I fear I'll stumble over spoilers.
Until then, here is the promo art and if you haven't watched this reboot I suggest you do, its really rather good in my opinion.  There are enough nods to the original show but it really is its own thing.

Avenue 5 (2020)

Coming in 2020...
Avenue 5 is a space tourism comedy set 40 years in the future when the solar system is everyone’s oyster. Hugh Laurie will play Ryan Clark, captain of the titular space cruiser, a confident, controlled, and personable man who is about to be tested to his limits.
Comedy sci-fi makes me nervous because it very rarely works in my opinion, however this one has some strong creative names attached so we'll cross our fingers and hope for the best.  After all its HBO and their hit rate is pretty good.

Update + Update + Update

Hi,

Just a little update to let you know I'm still around and this Blog should see some new posts quiet soon.

There have been some blogger access issues, some laptop issues, and some time and day job issues but hopefully I should be able to get back into the swing of things quite soon.

Looking at the comments and the activity stats I can see plenty of people still pop over here to view the back catalogue of posts so thanks for keeping it all active in my absence

More talk and new posts soon

Postman Pat and the Space Suit (2017)

Postman Pat and the Space Suit is the 26 episode of season 8 of the children's animated favourite Postman Pat. It aired on Wednesday 29th March 2017 on CBeebies, the BBC's channel for younger viewers....that said, there's something very relaxing about watching Pat potter around delivering mail that might just appeal to the older viewer as well.

Yes, that really is Professor Brian Cox you recognise right there.

Prospect (2018)

Prospect is the 2018 feature length movie version of the 2014 short film.  Its rather good and we get a glimpse into a version of the future that I would love to see revisited.  An excellent slice of sci-fi, made on a budget but doing it so well you cant help but admire the talent behind it.

Umbrella Academy (2019)

I only watched the first episode and it seemed good but there is so much good TV around now days that you just cant watch it all.  I may return one day.

Love, Death & Robots. Series 1 episode 11 - Helping Hand (2019)

Animated short in which a stranded astronaut must make some very tough decisions in order to survive. The episode was written by Claudine Griggs and based on the short story by Philip Gelatt.  The animation is of a very high, almost realistic style for this particular story but I would recommend the series as a whole for a variety of stories and styles.

Dog in a Spacesuit (2019)

Available from a different branch of the same chain of discounted ex-catalogue stores that had the Cat in a spacesuit.... I'm still not sure why or if there are yet more to be discovered.

Robot Monster (1953)

So....Robot Monsters.  Not a spaceman then or even a spacesuit but interesting none the less as it features the space helmet from Flight to Mars which then went on to feature in Radar Men from the Moon before being partnered with a gorilla suit.....its probably best not to ask why!  As rubbish as it is, its become very icon an image worthy of a little look-see.  Plus, if you go all the way down the post you'll see the second space helmet to feature in the movie.

Thanks Tim, for suggesting this blog post

Cat in a Spacesuit (2019)

I saw this over the weekend in a discounted ex-catalogue store.  I have lots of questions about it and absolutely no answers....which doesn't mean we cant enjoy it on whatever level that may be!
