Kids Incorporated - NASA Space Week (1984)

Well that was not nice but in order to get some images, I've just sat through far too many minutes of Kids Incorporated, episode 23 of the first season on the strength of a tip off from a blog follower. (cheers sir!  I would never have found it without your help)
And what we have is another appearance of the Men in Space helmet and suit. looking decidedly rough and aged I might add.
There are also some small, similar suits that look specially made up to me, although the helmets will clearly be from somewhere else because that's the expensive bit and there are 4 of them.
I had to research the show as we never had it over here and it all sounds embarrassing and painful so we probably shouldn't dwell on it any longer than it takes to share the episode's plot and then move along
"It's Space Week at The P*lace, and all the kids are writing to NASA in hopes of becoming the first kid in space. Gloria, however, is too scared."

Road to Hong Kong (1962) Lobby card

We've done this film already but I'm having a bit of a Bob Hope thing this evening so lets post a new image for The Road To Hong Kong, in which Bob (and Bing) can be seen wearing a suit that's possibly original to them but which goes on the pop up in the following few years in at least a couple of other films

Blake's 7: Traitor (1981)

That's Forbus from the Blake's 7 episode; Traitor.  He's wearing one of those nifty RAF ventilation suits, that are sometimes a spacesuit, sometimes a Cyberman and sometime nice to dress pop stars in to make a video more interesting.  I think Forbus is one of those crippled evil genius types, so here its being part life-support... which is new.
I quite liked Blake's 7 the first time around although it does get a little painful by the forth season which might be why I don't remember too much about this one or feel particularly inclined to sit through it again.

Doctor Who: The Wheel in Space (1968) - A Gallery

We've been here before of course but that was before I was pointed in the direction of episode 6, one of the two surviving episodes of this second Doctor and the Cybermen, six part story from 1968.  And the reason to explore episode 6 in greater detail is that, as you will see, it reveals that the BBC actual used three Windak suits and not just two as originally blogged.  It is my belief that these were the same suits as featured the film; First Men in the Moon in 1964, and again in Doctor Who: The Tenth Planet, the first Doctor's last story and the Cyberman's first, in 1966.  I would make a fairly safe bet that between their appearance here in The  Wheel in Space and then guesting in Star Wars IV in 1977, they did feature in other sci-fi shows and films as well.  As of yet I've no idea what that might be but if anyone has caught a glimpse in an episode of Out of the Unknown or Doom Watch, etc, I would love to hear about it. Until then enjoy the images.

Thanks to Philip Ayres for telling me where to find these.  You are a star, sir.

Mission Stardust - Lobby Cards (1967)

Mission Stardust, AKA  ...4...3...2...1...Morte in Italy, AKA Perry Rhodan – SOS aus dem Weltall in Germany, AKA Órbita Mortal in Spain is a 1967 Italian movie based on the Perry Rhodan universe.

I've never had the pleasure although it is supposed to be quite bad.  Still I feel strangely drawn by that 60's Italian aesthetic.

On the Silver Globe (1988)

On the Silver Globe or Na srebrnym globie to give it its original name, is a 1988 Polish film directed by Andrzej Żuławski and based on the novel by Jerzy Żuławski.  I had never heard of it up until a week or two ago, where it was described to me as being a very weird film, as in "Zardoz" levels of weird.
Now this is a good description for me because although we almost never talk about Zardoz around here - because it lacks spacesuits - it is actually one of my all time favourite films. Which just puts Na srebrnym globie, even higher on my; to see list.
I'll let you know after I've tracked a good copy down but in the mean time if anyone wants to agree with me that Zardoz is a work of genius or discuss the merits of; On a Silver Globe ,then join me in the comments section below.

Thank you again to Tim
