A classic set of 1:76 scale figures originally released in 1971 and still available to this day. Its nice to see the box art remains almost the same. As a kid I spent as long staring at that picture as I did painting and playing with the figures.

As a teenage modeler, I had a couple of sets of these-- they may still be in the garage-- and they were handy additions to science fiction dioramas.
ReplyDeleteThe Lunar Rover jeep was not particularly accurate, but the rocket jumpers, based on never-built Bell Aerospace designs, were good fun.
Should one paint the faceplates gold, or would gloss black be more realistic? Decisions, decisions!
I went black back in the day, Bill but would probably go gold now....if I buy an new set. I loved the rocket jumper. I might have to pick up another set just to own the box art again
DeleteI remember these being made of some horrible PVC type plastic that was very flexible and wouldn't take paint. Hopefully they're better now?
ReplyDeleteyou're right. I'm assuming they are still the same but I haven't yet put my hand in my pocket for a new set but its only a matter of time
