Magic Fly by Space (1977)

The worldwide number 1 hit "Magic Fly" as released in 1977 by the band Space.   I used to nick off with my brother's copy of this and play it over and over again as a kid.  In fact I've listened to it a couple of dozen times while blogging tonight.  It never gets old but don't take my word for it, go off and have a listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_ukfGAd8T4

Good isn't it.

Well she's all sorts of wiggly and nice, isn't she!

See what I did there?
It's a more melancholic but no less pleasant vibe.  Although with hindsight I now realise it sound more like the closing theme tune of a cop show than anything too sci-fi.  Imagine a French version of The Sweeny and this would be on the money.

Any way that's enough nonsense for one post, so in case I don't get to talk to you before hand, have a Happy Christmas and fingers crossed for a much better New Year.

Still not over Bowie

Audi R8 Big Game Commercial – Commander (2016)

Surrounded by memories of the Space Age’s golden years, a retired astronaut has lost his zeal for life. But when his son shows up and hands over the keys to the new 205-mph Audi R8 V10 plus, a rocket ride under the stars stirs new found life within the Commander

This is quite an emotional advert to watch and even more so because it uses Bowie's Star Man as the music and I'm still not over his transcendence yet.

You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB8tgVqmKzw

Enjoy

Mars (2016)

Nice suits.  I got 15 minutes in before I lost interest, which is not very tolerant of me I will admit but I was really irritated by the cheap look of the video filming.  Who is watching this and is it any good?  Should I get back in front of it?  Send us your comments and views.

Astrolab 22 is a French/ Saudi Arabian TV series in 13 parts from 1985.  It involves a mission to Pluto, apparently but beyond that I know very little.

Thanks Tim

Look And Read (1980)

Look and Read was a schools educational daytime TV show that featured segmented dramas such as; The Boy from Space as well as helping the young viewers to read more confidentially.  To the best of my knowledge the show ran for years and I certainly remember watching some episode, if not this particular one.

The Boy from Space is something of a cult viewing experience over here in Blightly, and having watched it today, I can see why.  I will certainly be digging down into the shows many wonders although over on my Strange England blog, where it truly belongs.

For now though, I'll present this rather nifty spacesuit that appears in episode one, in the linking bits between the drama.

I'm fairly certain that helmet was in Doctor Who - The Invisible Enemy (1979) first, then The Innes book of Records (1979).  After that at least one of them got a coat of silver paint before popping up in Blake's 7 - Voices from the Past (1979), Look and Read the following year and eventually, possibly Dr Who - Terminus (1983).  What's the betting there are a couple more BBC appearances in between.
