Galaxy Magazine, March Vol. 38, No. 1 (1977)

Galaxy Magazine, March 1977 (Vol. 38, No. 1)  Cover art by Stephen Fabian, illustrating part 3 of Gateway by Frederik Pohl.

And here it is in close up and rotated

Look Familiar?
Yes and so it should.  "Cheeky" Stephan didn't bank on the future development of the internet and the fact that people like us post images like that.  Still those spacewomen are very attractive and every artist deserves his muse.

Thanks for the keen-eyed find, Michel Van.

Adventurers and Explorers Picture card book (1973)

Free picture cards in with your tea bags.  Drink the tea, collect the cards and stick them in the book - Its the reason I started drinking the "cha", in order to get through it quicker and complete the collections.  Below is Neil Armstrong, card 50, and the last of the note worthy adventurers and explorers as of 73...It may well still be true !

Captain Condor (1952)

Captain Condor was a strip created by Frank Pepper and Ronald Forbes about a valiant spaceship pilot in the year 3000 AD which appeared in the pages of IPC's Lion comic from 1952 onwards.  Lion was designed to compete with Eagle and Condor was basically the comic's answer to Dan Dare.

Ranger Comic (1965)

Ranger was an attempt in 1965 to return to the 1950s heyday of the Eagle with comic strips and factual information in a highly illustrated and well produced format. The comic ran for 40 issues from September 1965 to June 1966 (plus 2 annuals) but failed to gain enough of an audience and so was amalgamated into Look and Learn.

Les Aventures de Colargol - episodes 14 to 21 (1970's)

I used to like this show as a kid although to me it was simply Barnaby Bear, apparently there was a bit more to it than that.
Following the success of the Colargol albums Albert Barillé's animation company Procidis started production on Les Aventures de Colargol, a stop-motion animated series starring Colargol.
The series was produced from 1967 to 1974, comprising 53 thirteen-minute episodes which were broadcast in many European countries. Les Aventures de Colargol was renamed Barnaby when it was dubbed into English and broadcast in the UK by the BBC.
The series underwent another name change when a second dubbed version of the series was shown in Canada (and also in the UK and Ireland), this time as Jeremy the Bear. - Which is interesting because my brother always used to call it that and I kept telling him he was wrong.  Wonder if he would still like an apology all these years later?
