The cover to issue 1 of Grant Morrison's new comic book series; Nameless. The art is by Chris Burnham and its available to buy next month. As to what its all about, well as good as it is, don't let the cover fool you, this is from Grant Morrison so it could be about anything at all. I think Grant is all kinds of interesting and I will be getting me an issue of this because I've missed being in that expansive headspace. I'll let you know.

Rocky Jones, Space Ranger (1954)
Rocky Jones, Space Ranger is an American television serial originally broadcast in syndication from February to November 1954.
The show was based on the exploits of clean-cut, square-jawed Rocky Jones, the best known of the Space Rangers. These were Earth-based space policemen who patrolled the United Worlds of the Solar System in the not-too-distant future.

The Twilight Zone - Elegy (1960)
From The Twilight Zone, season 1 episode 20.
Running out of fuel, astronauts Meyers, Webber and Kirby land their spaceship on a remote asteroid in 2185. They find the place quite Earth-like with buildings and people but after looking around begin to wonder where everyone is. The first place they come to is a farm where they can find no one. No one, that is, until they see a farmer gazing off into the distance. They approach him, tap him on the shoulder and try talking to him, but realize he is nothing more than a statue........ and so it begins.
Interestingly while I ponder as to the notion that that these might be the same suits as seen in Destination Moon, I find that Wikipedia is more than happy to point out that the equipment seen in the space ship was from Forbidden Planet. Fancy that!

Lexx - Lyekka (1998)
Series 2 episode 03 of one of the maddest Sci-fi shows ever. Lexx could be wonderful and strange and sexy and funny but some times there wasn't enough plot or money to keep the story going all the way to the end of the episode. Should have been bigger and better known but then it should have just been better.
The plant-based organism called Lyekka arrives on the Lexx and uses Stanley's dream image of a high school sweetheart to take form. At the same time, 3 astronauts from the planet Potatohoe run into the Lexx. Lyekka begins to eat them one at a time, allowing them to live out their wildest fantasies before being fully consumed. And if that sounds odd you don't know the half of it.

Extant (2014)
"I went to space on a 13-month solo mission. I didn't come home alone. My husband created a life-like android called a "Humanich". His name is Ethan: he's the prototype. This is a story about Earth, a story about family, a story about surviving."
Didn't watch this. Reviews and thoughts welcome in the comments from those that did.

Wish I Was Here (2014)
Wish I was Here is not a sci-fi film but rather the story of Aidan Bloom, a 35-year-old man who finds himself at a major crossroads, which forces him to examine his life, his career and his family. Into which are dropped some fantasy sequences.
I'm not certain the above picture is actually from the film but rather a bit of a teaser image to help gather the films production funding through a Kickstarter campaign. The next two are though..
And interestingly the next two as well although I need to seek out a viewing in order to explain the context.

Gilligan's Island - Splashdown (1967)
From Gilligan's Island. Season 3 episode 22. Splashdown. First aired February 20th 1967.
That's the same capsule as seen in "Nyet, Nyet, Not Yet" but with a new lick of paint. Unless I'm very much mistaken its the same spacesuit and helmet as well.

We never had this over in Blighty but it's referenced in so many other American shows I feel like I've seen it through osmosis.

Dead Cosmonaut Golovorez (2014)
Artist: Ashley Wood, for threeA (3A)
An object of twisted beauty that I would love to own although it costs a few more pennies than I care to stump up. Truly wonderful.
...and as for the detail.
and available in white; Dead Astronaut Gangsta
And available in grey as well...
Best toy ever...

It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958)
It! The Terror from Beyond Space aka It! The Vampire from Beyond Space (1958) revolves around a rescue mission to Mars that finds the sole survivor from the previous Earth expedition. The survivor, the expedition's former commander, claims his crew were hunted to death, one-by-one, by a hostile Martian life form. The rescue ship's captain doesn't believe him, thinking they were killed for their provisions so the commander could survive. He orders the commander confined to quarters as the rescue ship launches for Earth. The same hostile Martian creature, now on board, begins another killing spree.
